THE PARADOX OF AMERICA. THE SMARTEST NATION ON EARTH, YET THE DUMBEST

Upworthy-AR-15-500For anyone watching the developing story about the shooting in Orlando, it is clear that Omar the shooter is driven by both hate and religious extremism. He targeted a club that is patronized by the gay community. And according to authorities, he placed a 911 call to the police declaring his allegiance to the leader of ISIS in the course of the carnage. There you have it.

In an initial statement released by the father of the shooter on the day of the shooting, the father said his son was not driven by religion. But by a loathe for gay guys which took a significant turn the day father, son, and Omar’s son went to Miami and a gay couple were kissing not too far away from where they were. The father said Omar was outraged by the couple kissing in front of his male child.

Of course as a father I can understand his anger at the gay couple. I assume his reasoning might be that his young boy seeing the gay couple make out in public may perceive it a norm, especially since him the father, being a religious man, does not want the son whose faculties are yet to be fully developed, to imbibe such values. But whatever his grievances were, that does not warrant mass murder. It does not warrant any murder at all. His atrocious behavior is unacceptable. Especially to every man of conscience. He lived in a secular society that accepted and tolerated his ways of live and his own religious believes and practices. Omar by his actions is simply am embodiment of hatred and intolerance.

Now, Omar is a man filled with hate. He’s a man that was poised to let out his hatred in the most barbaric way. But does the U.S. Congress have to make it soooo freaking easy for him to carry out his hateful acts to such a magnitude?

AR-15 assault weapon is a weapon of war and have no place in a civilian’s life. Why is the U.S. Congress so cool with individuals having possession of this kind of weapon? A mass murder weapon that allows the shooter to kill many with ease and in a short period of time?

In a country of smarts like Bill Gates, Zuckerbergs, and Pages, why can’t our politicians muster the courage to work for the American people and say fuck you to the NRA and their crazy obsession of arming every Tom, Dick and Harry with guns?

THE UPCOMING RELIGIOUS WAR

warAccording to TIME magazine, the terror group ISIS has released another video of how its operatives targeted and beheaded Ethiopian Christians in Libya.

This is not the first time that ISIS, a terrorist organization that is obviously of Muslim affiliation has proudly and daringly released a video of its atrocious acts against unprotected Christians.

Since the rise of ISIS in the Middle East and Boko Haram in Nigeria, Muslim terrorism against Christians has been on the rise. If they are not bombing them in churches, they are killing them in their towns. Recently we saw how Al-Shabaab, another terrorist organization of Muslim affiliation that operates in East Africa attacked a university in Kenya and singled out 147 Christians for kill while sparing their Muslim brothers. The stories are endless and are both heartbreaking and frustrating.

The stories are heartbreaking not just because these victims were singled out for their Christian faith, which they practice at no one else’s cost, but also because these are people. They are someone’s brother, someone’s sister, someone’s friend, someone’s father, someone’s mother, and someone’s child. They are the reason someone smiles everyday, they are the breadwinners to their respective families, and they are the inspiration other people look up to. And their lives just got wasted on the account of sheer madness called religion. It is indeed heartbreaking.

The stories are frustrating because world powers especially the seat of world power – the White House is doing nothing about it. Rather than call it what it obviously is, at the least (a war by Muslim terrorists against Christians), President Obama rather chooses to pick a fight with people calling it what it exactly is. What cowardice. And the terrorists listens. And the terrorists get emboldened. They are killing in the name of religion, Mr. President. They are Muslims. And they are killing Christians. And what does that add up to, Professor Obama?

Is President Obama sympathetic to ISIS?

President Obama, just like every other human can misspeak and sometimes let slip some lines that are not thoroughly thought through. From his ISIS-JV team analogy to his ISIS-European Christian crusaders comparison, it is obvious that one of the smartest man to have occupied the Oval Office has problem with drawing equivalences. However, Obama’s remarks is not the reason why ISIS and Boko Haram are perpetuating evil of unprecedented magnitude. Organized religion is the ace that have turned to a menace.

European Christian crusaders killed in the name of religion. They desecrated Africa. They ransacked communities, exploited natural resources, and stole national treasures of African nations and shipped them back to Europe to build their continent. They killed anything and everything that stood on their way to their looting. In Wilbur smith’s book, Men of Men, we saw the brutality and single-mindedness of the British when it came to the exploitation of Zimbabwe immediately Cecil Rhodes came to town. They dethroned kings and exiled them, they sacked villages, raped communities, and laid waste towns. They took over their diamond caves and mines, they killed and maimed in the name of stones, and their avariciousness led them to break the bonds of friendship and kill even their own friends who challenged them to the moral values they thought they knew them for. They killed the young and they killed the old alike. Their viciousness was immeasurable. Their barbarism unquantifiable. They were, simply put, terrorists.

These happened in the colonial days era. But it is still happening by proxy in contemporary Africa through fifth columnists who will rather enrich their own selves than have their own country develop. We see this in Congo DR and other West African countries rich in natural resources that the European tech companies depend on for raw materials to build their wares.

Anyways, this is a topic for another day. If Africa should open its arms to vicious Europe to continue to exploit Africa and steal the wealth of its posterity from her, that is Africa’s problem. And we will tackle this issue objectively in our subsequent essay.

ISIS

ISIS is a terror organization peopled mostly by Muslims of Middle East origin and to a lesser number, their western recruits who they brainwash and indoctrinate to follow the ways of evil. Everybody knows that. ISIS is mostly a Middle East problem because they have already declared their territorial ambitions and their goal of forming an Islamic caliphate carved out of nations in the Middle East. Everybody knows that also.

Now to a significant degree, ISIS has become America’s problem too, because, first, like al-Qaeda, they have the capacity to export terror to the United States, despite President Obama’s preliminary assessment of their resources and capacity to do so when he erroneously equated them to a JV team. Secondly, by killing Americans, ISIS challenged America to action. And ISIS is getting a reaction from the United States of America. Is the reaction proportional? That is up for a debate. Will ISIS be defeated and decimated as Barack promised, without a defined strategy? That is up for debate too. What is not up for debate though is the imprudence of the 14th paragraph of President Obama’s remarks at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C. on February 5, 2015 wherein he drew a parallel between the contemporary terrorism ISIS is waging on humanity to the terrorism waged by European Christian crusaders in the past.
